Cardi B’s long-awaited sophomore album has officially been delayed until 2025, leaving fans feeling both disappointed and amused. On Tuesday, November 19, the rapper joined in on the jokes, poking fun at herself after teasing the project throughout the year.
In a tweet addressed to her fans, known as the Bardigang, Cardi shared a meme featuring Indian singer Vennu Mallesh, captioned: “Don’t believe me. I am a true liar.” The tweet quickly gained traction, garnering over 15,000 likes and sparking a mix of humorous and exasperated responses.
Social media users didn’t hold back. One fan joked, “You and Rihanna compete for [the] Best Liar Award every single year,” referencing the still-missing follow-up to Rihanna’s 2016 album ANTI. Another quipped, “As long as you take accountability, that’s all that matters.” Others took the playful approach further, claiming Cardi “enjoys seeing us suffer” and suggesting she should “hang it up entirely.”
The news came during an Instagram Live session on Monday, November 18, where Cardi revealed her plans for the upcoming year:
« Next year, my album will be out, my secret businesses will be out — I can’t tell y’all what I’m working on — [and] hopefully next year I get [myself] a lil’ boyfriend, » she said.
The delayed album will serve as the follow-up to Cardi’s debut, Invasion of Privacy (2018), which launched her into superstardom. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, featuring hits like the RIAA diamond-certified “Bodak Yellow,” “I Like It,” and “Be Careful.” Guest appearances included SZA, Chance the Rapper, Migos, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin, while production credits boasted names like DJ Mustard and Boi-1da.
