The holiday season just got brighter for the BeyHive. On Sunday, Beyoncé announced she will headline the halftime show during the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens NFL game on December 25, in partnership with Netflix’s first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday Live.
The iconic performer will treat fans to tracks from her critically acclaimed album, COWBOY CARTER, and has promised surprise guest appearances from some of the album’s featured artists. However, the details remain under wraps until the big day.
Beyoncé returns to the NFL stage
The game, kicking off at 4:30 p.m. ET, will be sandwiched between two other major matchups, including the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers. Beyoncé teased her performance with a stylish promotional clip shared on social media. The video, soundtracked by her song “AMERIICAN REQUIEM,” shows the artist elegantly posing on a rose-covered car before effortlessly catching a football.
This isn’t Beyoncé’s first time dazzling NFL fans. She headlined the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show in 2013, delivering a jaw-dropping performance. She also returned in 2016 during Coldplay’s halftime show to perform “Formation.”
The upcoming Christmas performance solidifies Beyoncé’s deep ties to the NFL. Her husband, JAY-Z, established a partnership with the league in 2019 to oversee music and social justice initiatives.
COWBOY CARTER: A groundbreaking album
Beyoncé’s NFL appearance follows the enormous success of COWBOY CARTER, released in March.
